I have uninstalled BG3 and installed it again several times. Uninstalled my NVidia graphics drivers and reinstalled. I know its not my CPU, RAM or SSD card because intermittently it does load within seconds but ... After updating Nvidia drivers to 536.67, assets in game (during gameplay) after main loading take much longer to load in. Takes good 20-30 secods for even the location to be properly visible and playable. Not game breaking but weird behaviour. This is on GTX 1080 Ti 236.99 came out yesterday and mentions Baldur's Gate in its optimization notes.It happened after my game failed to load during a quickload so I had to kill the process. After that every save for that character would crash the game after 60%. Note: I had native camera mod installed. But starting a new game worked fine with no changes to my mods etc so at first I didn't attribute it to the mod.For those that might have the same or similar problems, try going to your appdata\local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\LevelCache folder and deleting everything inside it. My computer can run BG3 with certain settings turned down (low shadows, no god rays, no ambient occlusion, etc), but it stills eats up almost all of my memory to run the thing. The game will slow down, I'll have frequent frame drops, and when I load into an area, it takes ages for all the objects/terrain to render in. And when I try to walk, the game keeps reloading the assets (I even managed to find some out-of-bounds stuff like dev textures lol). Saw an article recommending increasing RAM so I doubled my PC's 8GB RAM to 16GB and it launches and loads decently quickly now. I just clocked it at 1:40 to fully launch starting from DX11 from Larian Launcher. Re-loading saved games takes about a minute. Seems to be a launcher issue. For example, getting into combat only applies the turn based system to people in combat. In Digital Foundry's testing, it didn't really seem to do anything if your game is installed on an SSD. It can't hurt, though.The HDD being external is bottlenecking your asset load times to USB speed. If you have it on an internal SSD, this will improve your experience immensely. It is kind of a requirement to run games on SSD in 2023.
